Growing up in the dry heat of Arizona, Tiffany is the youngest of 4 children to the best parents on the planet! As the daughter of a financial planner and a nurse, she learned the value of hard work and being kind to everyone. She grew up with a husky and a dachshund who have since made their way to doggie heaven.
Tiffany grew up playing soccer, basketball, volleyball, and watching football with her dad. Because of the year around 100 degree weather of AZ, she also did swim team and synchronized swimming, the latter of which she ended up getting 4th in the state! Currently, she loves lifting at the gym and suffering through cardio.
She is a nerd through and through and is not ashamed of it! She LOVES to read fantasy/fiction that absolutely has to have romance in it. Tiffany loves all of the major movie franchises including, but not limited to, Harry Potter, Marvel, and Lord of the Rings. Growing up with two brothers, she loves playing nostalgic video games like Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Mario Kart.
Tiffany started taking voice lessons at just 11 years old and has continued to take private voice lessons for the last 17 years! She has had over a dozen teachers several of whom have been on Broadway, off Broadway, and are original voices on several different soundtracks. Her current voice teacher lives in New York and is training people on Broadway as we speak!
In 2014, Tiffany got into Brigham Young University's prestigious School of Music where, after 3 years, she switched out of Music Education and created her own degree program in Contemporary Voice Performance. In her extensive 7 year undergraduate experience, Tiffany studied vocal pedagogy, opera, pop, rock, musical theatre, acting techniques for stage and film as well as tap, jazz, ballet, and hip hop. She learned how to conduct orchestras, choirs, and bands. She learned teaching techniques that have helped her in her private studio and will hopefully help her when she becomes a mom one day!
As the youngest of 4 I grew up watching my older siblings do theatre and perform in school. Listening to my siblings practice in our living room, my parents learned that I naturally picked up music when they recorded a video of me singing "Great Balls of Fire" just from listening to my brother practice everyday. I even performed it in the middle of a restaurant!
At age 11, I asked my parents for voice lessons. After my first recital. my soul came alive and felt at home instantly singing in front of people. By the time I was a teenager, it became a dream of mine to run my own vocal studio. Throughout junior high and high school, I did musical theatre camps and auditioned for shows any chance I could get. Because my friends and peers knew I had been taking private lessons, they started asking me to listen to their songs and give feedback. Having a naturally analytical mind, I reveled in the challenge of assessing their voices and trying to fix things that sounded hard.
By my junior year of high school, I started getting paid to teach lessons to my friend's little sister. I continued to teach through my senior year, then moved to Utah for college. While working through my music degree, I taught friends and peers how to master their voices and overcome performance anxiety. In 2018, I got a job teaching at a local voice studio where I taught students of all ages and skill levels how to sing in pop, rock, and musical theatre styles. I helped prepare them for auditions, performances, taught them how to connect to their audiences, and how to pronounce that pesky Italian song. In 2024, I decided it was time to pursue my ultimate dream of being my own boss and running my own studio!
Obviously, I am running my own business! Having never taken advantage of my name, I decided it was at last time to play on the classic movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's". The convenient coincidence of my love for jewelry and my favorite color being Tiffany blue led Singing at Tiffany's to be born. People who take lessons from me can literally come sing at Tiffany's, in person or virtually, as I teach out of my apartment in Utah.
In addition to being a voice teacher, I am a professional audio engineer for live sound. Having had the opportunity to mix Broadway singers such as Derek Klena and Dallyn Bayles, I have also had the honor of mixing professional musician groups, go on tour, and mix at theatres across the state of Utah. I am now back at my Alma Mater, BYU, teaching the paid student crew how to use our industry-standard equipment, explaining the laws of sound physics/acoustics, and coaching them through the nuances of mixing every genre of music imaginable.
About a year ago, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and start a podcast! Having the audio knowledge and equipment already, getting started was somewhat simple. Proud of the fact that I am a well rounded person and musician, I use my podcast to talk about all of the other things I am interested in. I invite guests to come teach us about their jobs and impart their wisdom. Feel free to become Well-Rounded with me every Wednesday by listening from wherever you get your podcasts.
